Meeting Beatrice

This is Beatrice. I was lucky enough to meet her on a chance. Emel and I were on our way to lunch and we happened upon Beatrice. Emel has helped her many times and has had numerous conversations with her keeper. We pulled over in a parking lot and raced across the street to bring Beatrice one of the Emel’s Heart Bags complete with a 5lb bag of high protein dog food from Blue Buffalo to help her with her health, some fresh water in a reusable water bottle, a travel dog bowl, a soft blanket to keep her warm at night and keep her body cool from laying on the hot ground during these summer days, and a first aid kit. Meeting Beatrice, one would automatically think, this is a big dog and I should keep my distance. But she was the sweetest and most caring animal, I had ever met. A lot of old house dogs bark and growl to the unfamiliar, But old Beatrice here was just happy to say hello and offer her huge smile as a perfect greeting. It’s hard not to fall in love with this gentle giant.

In our conversations with Beatrice’s keeper, we learned that she has gotten a foxtail in her eye, which can not only be extremely harmful to any dog, but it’s also extremely painful. Emel and I, are actively looking for Vets that would be willing to donate their time and expertise to help our Homeless Animal Community and we are planning a Vet in the Park event coming soon to Citrus Heights and other surrounding areas. All of our animal companions deserve good health and wonderful lives. Plus the feeling in my heart when I met Beatrice, only made me want to help more. She is that kind and endearing gentle giant that you see on the side of Greenback and Madison every-so-often. Send her smiles because she always smiles back.
